Carla Ward

Carla Ward is a founding member of the Turquoise Trail Association, an all-volunteer organization created in 1983 to preserve and protect the Turquoise Trail, the back road from Albuquerque to Santa Fe. The Association successfully obtained the National Scenic Byway designation for it in 2000. She and her late husband, Ross Ward, built the Tinkertown Museum in Sandia Park, one of New Mexico’s premier Folk Art environments. Featuring an animated miniature Western Town and Circus hand-carved by Ross, and walls created out of over 50,000 recycled bottles, Tinkertown was named one of the 10 Best Small Museums in the U.S. by Trip Advisor.
